Camino Santiago The Way Guided Bike Tour
From Burgos to Santiago de CompostelaEarly bird discount until February 28, 2026: 5%
The Camino de Santiago, or Saint James’ Way, is one of Spain’s best-known bike routes and offers a taste of the traditions and history of this 1000-year-old pilgrimage trail. Today, people do this trail even though they are not religious. All you need is curiosity and a desire to be at one with nature.

As the oldest, most celebrated and most frequented route in Europe, it’s no wonder the Camino de Santiago is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Route. The various paths of the Camino traverse many regions of northern Spain, including Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y León and Galicia. Some routes venture further north along the coast, through País Vasco, Cantabria and Asturias. Every stage provides views of breathtaking landscapes, from the vineyards of La Rioja to the lush, green mountainous scenery found further west.
At each stage of the route, there is a new gastronomic experience. Each region has its own unique cuisine.
Let us plan your Camino for you. We’ll take care of all the details and provide you with a personalized, detailed itinerary, including maps and insider tips to help you make the most of your Guided Camino de Santiago. You can customize the trip by deciding how many days you want to spend on the Camino. Your luggage will be transported from hotel to hotel. In addition, you’ll have more specialized attention, including a support vehicle and guides to accompany you along your Camino.

Day 1: Burgos
It’s said your pilgrimage starts the moment you leave home. On the first day of the tour, we’ll meet you ate your hotel in Burgos. If you need a transfer from any other city in Spain (Madrid is the nearest international Airport), we can arrange for that.
Dating back to 884, Burgos rises from the banks of the River Arlanzón and offers stunning examples of Spain’s Gothic architecture. Depending on the time of your arrival, we’ll have time to explore the old city centre, visit the cathedral and maybe a short cycle ride to collect our Pilgrim’s Passports. For dinner, we can recommend places that serve tapas and offer typical Castilian specialties. -
Day 2: Burgos – Carrión de los Condes | 86 km (53 miles) | 430 m (1411 ft) ⛰
A hearty buffet breakfast precedes every day’s cycling. Our route takes us through the changing Castilian landscapes – abundant with crops, wheat, corn, hops and even vineyards. We pass through a multitude of charming villages, stopping for lunch at Hontanas. Later, we pause at Frómista with its Spanish Romanesque style churches to end the day’s cycling at Carrión. Overnight stay and dinner are at the Hotel Real Monasterio de San Zoilo, a spectacular place with a Gothic cloister and a church incorporated.
-
Day 3: Carrión de los Condes– Sahagún – León | 48 km (30 miles) | 178 m (2579 ft) ⛰
Today’s ride takes us past more charming villages to reach Sahagun, where we stop for lunch. This is followed by a minibus ride (90 km) to León, a city founded in the year 68 AD. Our overnight stay is at the magnificent Hotel Parador Hostal San Marcos with its splendid Renaissance façade. A city with abundant architectural richness, Leon also has a multitude of bars. We can recommend places for drinks before dinner. Don’t miss Leon Cathedral, a Gothic gem with imposing stained glass windows.
-
Day 4: León – Astorga | 53 km (33 miles) | 259 m (850 ft) ⛰
We’ll cycle to Astorga a city with Roman origins and home to an Episcopal Palace designed by Antoni Gaudí – today serving as a museum to the Camino de Santiago.
Today’s route is gently undulated, the landscapes wide. After lunch, visit to the palace, the cathedral and the pilgrim’s hospital. We stay at the Hotel Casa de Tepa. -
Day 5: Astorga – Villafranca del Bierzo | 65 – 85 km (40 – 53 miles) | 912 m (2992 ft) ⛰
Leaving Astorga, we remount the bikes to start a gentle ascent up into the hills. Then comes our first steep climb to reach the Cruz de Ferro (Iron Cross) – Here Pilgrim tradition prompts placing a commemorative stone below the cross. There follows a long downhill ride with superb views – passing by the villages of Acebo and Molinaseca to arrive at Ponferrada. After visiting the main spots, we proceed to Villafranca to spend the night at the Hotel Parador Villafranca del Bierzo. The town is of importance to Pilgrims as a refuge and sanctuary, before starting the most difficult part of their journey.
-
Day 6: Villafranca del Bierzo – Samos | 61 km (38 miles) | 1093 m (3586 ft) ⛰
From Villafranca, we cycle about 29 km / 18 miles towards the mythical O Cebreiro pass, stopping in Las Herrerías at the foot of the most demanding peak along the western Camino. If you want to safe your energy and jump this climb, we can organize a taxi ride for you, on your own expenses. Notice also, that we offer the possibility to upgrade this tour to a fully accompanied one, with a second driver in a van with space for up to 7 / 14 participants. In this charming mountain village, we lunch on hearty regional specialties, accompanied by exceptional views over Galicia. We remount the bikes to follow a route through Atlantic forests scattered with small villages, to arrive at Samos. Samos means in ancient languages “place to retire”. This name derives from it’s III c. A.D. monastery that presides the village and the water stream at it’s feet. We stay and dine at the charming family run hotel A Veiga. A Veiga is known to serve the best meat in the region by far.
-
Day 7: Samos –Mellide – Arzúa | 73 km (45 miles) | 960 m (2800 ft) ⛰
Today’s ride takes us trough a typical Galician landscape: green fields and apple fields, small old villages and Romanesque chapels that show you the Way. We follow the stream on a shady small regional road that takes us to Sarria. Sarria marks the last 100 KM to Santiago de Compostela. To be eligible for the Compostelana (the Pilgrim’s Certificate in Santiago), a walking pilgrim will have to walk at least these 100 km. A biker needs to fulfill at least twice that distance. We’ll have taken on almost 5 times that distance by the time of our arrival in Santiago de Compostela. On our way, we’ll ride by Castro Maior, a fortified settlement overlooking the Miño river. Inhabited from the IV c. b.C. till the I c. A.D., it’s carved structure makes it a unique example of a settlement of the ancient regional civilizations. The Miño River was damned at Puertomarín, fluding the old village. During the Franco era, the fantastic Romanesque church was taken out of the valley, saved from the water and rebuild stone by stone in the center of the new village. Close to Mellide, we will ride by mini bus (25 km) to our hotel in Arzúa, 5 km further south to the village in the country side: a Pazo de Brandeso. Here you can relax in this spacious traditional grand-land-house transformed into a hotel, fully inmersed in nature, before our short last ride tomorrow to Santiago de Compostela. Arzúa is famous for its soft and creamy cow cheese.
-
Day 8: Arzúa – Santiago de Compostela | 42 km (27 miles) | 511 m (1677 ft) ⛰
We cycle the final 42 km of the Camino. Like all pilgrims do since 1200 years, we’ll en-joy the first glimpse of the cathedral from the Mount of Joy, just before entering the city. This final day of our pilgrimage is short but challenging – four hours cycling ending in Santiago at the Pórtico de la Gloria (Façade of Glory) by the cathedral – an unforgettable view. We proceed to the Pilgrim’s office, where you collect your official document: a fine certificate confirming that you have completed the pilgrimage. Our accommodation is at the Hotel Palacio del Carmen. Santiago de Compostela is historically one of the three most important pilgrimage-cities in the world, with Jerusalem and Rome, and still welcomes pilgrims from all over the world to this day. Our hotel is centrally located, convenient for exploring the streets and bars of the historic centre. Later, we dine together to celebrate our having successfully completed the cycling pilgrimage adventure together.
