The love of life, clean air and the blue-white freedom, time to take care of yourself and to cure body and soul. Cycle around the most famous Bavarian lakes with the best water quality. View the majestic mountain massifs and stroll through blooming, richly ornamented old towns. Colour and Baroque is the image of the towns along the way. Enjoy unspoilt nature and Bavarian tradition. Bavaria offers vitality! Bavaria bewitches!
Altogether an easy cycle tour. A few short ascents that can also be conquered by pushing the bike. You bicycle on wonderful cycle paths and small side roads, main roads only for short distances. Mostly asphalted, some longer passages also on good nature paths.
A visit to the fortress museum, Fortress Grünwald and the Bavaria Film City located nearby is possible.
Information, meeting and bike distribution. From Munich through the Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberg. From Starnberg on cycle path directly on the lake shore to Seeshaupt. On wonderful paths through unspoilt Bavarian villages, past the Oster Lakes and the Rieg See to Murnau am Staffelsee.
At first through the nature reserve Murnauer Moos (biggest moor region in Central Europe). Continue through the unspoilt nature, following the river Loisbach to Garmisch Partenkirchen. This stage is short on purpose, so that you can take the Zugspitzbahn to the height of 2962 m. From there wonderful view of the Alps.
You bridge 300 meters of altitude to Scharnitz by train. From there slightly uphill through wildly romantic gorges and lush alpine fields to the source of the Isar. Back through the sunny high-lying valley with wonderful panoramas of the Karwendel and Wetterstein Mountains through Mittenwald (forest) to Wallgau – a village which still cultivates Bavarian tradition.
Past Isarwinkel, following the turquoise-blue water to the impressive Sylvenstein Lake, and through Lenggries across charming landscapes to Bad Tolz. The town on the junction of two trading routes, the Isar and the old salt route from Reichenhall to Allgau, developed quickly into a blooming trading post. The richly ornamented middle class houses are evidence of the golden age. Enjoying nature pedaling on a boat.
Through the charming landscape of Lake Tegern to Gmund am Tegernsee with a wonderful lake panorama. Along the Gaißbach Valley back again to Bad Tolz. The thermal springs of the famous spa “Alpamare” make tired muscles fit again. The Tolzer Market Street invites on a stroll in the footsteps of the famous television series “Der Bulle von Tölz” (The Cop from Tölz).
The Isar cycle path takes you through Geretsried and Wolfratshausen to Grünwald. You have to overcome a few short ascents before reaching the Bavarian capital Munich with its numerous places of interest. Fantastic German landscape ideal for bicycling.
