ROUTE
The journey takes you from Prague to Dresden along the Vltava and Elbe rivers, passing through Mělník, Litoměřice and Děčín before entering the Czech-Saxon Switzerland region. The route then crosses into Germany, continuing through Bad Schandau, past Königstein Fortress and the Bastei, and on through Pirna to Dresden, combining riverside cycling with historic towns and some of the most striking landscapes along the Czech-German border.
The route is mostly flat and follows the Vltava and Elbe rivers along quiet roads and dedicated cycle paths, making for a relaxed and enjoyable ride. Daily distances are manageable, with just a short uphill section on the first day. Suitable for cyclists looking for a comfortable, leisurely journey, it offers a great balance of easy cycling and varied terrain.
Self Guided experience
You cycle independently at your own pace rather than following a tour leader. A detailed App with maps, GPS tracks, points of interest and route information allows you to navigate the stages independently. It is a suitable option for cyclists who value flexibility and prefer to decide their own pace and stops during the cycling days.
Guided experience
You cycle as part of a group accompanied by a tour leader. The guide leads the cycling stages, helping with route navigation and providing information about the places visited along the way. This option is suited to travellers who prefer to follow an organised group itinerary without having to manage the route independently.
Itinerary
Day 0: Prague
Arrive in Prague and take time to explore the Czech capital before your cycling adventure begins. The historic centre, with its remarkable architecture and long cultural history, makes an ideal introduction to the journey.
Day 1: Prague to Mělník
58–70 km / 36–43 mi
Leave Prague following the Vltava River and pass the Baroque Troja Castle before heading north through the river valley. Day 2: Mělník to Litoměřice
50 km / 31 mi
Follow the Elbe through the peaceful and fertile countryside of the region. Along the way, pass Liběchov Castle and the town of Roudnice nad Labem before reaching Terezín Fortress, an important and poignant historical site. The day ends in Litoměřice, one of the region’s historic centres.
Day 3: Litoměřice to Děčín

A shorter and more flexible cycling day takes you towards the Czech-Saxon Switzerland National Park.
