Constance’s old town or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum.
Day 2: Constance – Stein am Rhein – Radolfzell
Exploring Lake Constance’s Untersee by Bike
(Approx. 50 – 60 km)
Ride through historic Swiss fishing communities along the southern banks of the Untersee toward Stein am Rhein, celebrated for its remarkably preserved medieval frescoes. The lakeside cycle path then passes through Gaienhofen, offering riders sweeping views of the surrounding Swiss shores.
Proceeding through Horn and Moos, your ride finishes in the historic spa town of Radolfzell. Designed for leisure cyclists, this scenic route is filled with inviting beaches, local cafés, and seaside rest areas ideal for taking in the view.
Day 3: Radolfzell – Überlingen / Uhldingen
Approx. 25 / 35 km
Trade the lakeshore for rolling countryside as you ride across the scenic Bodanrück peninsula. While the stage begins with brief, punchy ascents, the elevation gain is short-lived and yields breathtaking high-elevation vistas across Lake Constance.
Once over the peninsula, enjoy smooth, downhill-tending cycle paths all the way to Überlingen. This iconic Lake Constance destination welcomes cyclists with a preserved medieval old town, botanical garden spots, and a sunny lakeside promenade perfect for evening relaxation.
Day 4: Überlingen / Lindau
Approx 60–70 km
Begin your morning with a relaxing stroll along Überlingen’s picturesque waterfront promenade before embarking on one of the most landmark-packed stages around Lake Constance. This scenic route takes you past iconic cultural gems: marvel at the stunning Baroque Pilgrimage Church of Birnau, step back in time at the Uhldingen Pile Dwelling Museum, and explore the medieval alleyways and historic fortress of Meersburg Castle.
Continuing along the shoreline, ride into Friedrichshafen to visit the famous Zeppelin Museum before finishing your day at the island town of Lindau, known for its charming harbor and historic architecture. Depending on your itinerary, you will spend the night in Lindau or nearby Bregenz, home to the world’s largest floating festival stage.
Day 5: Lindau – Horn
Approx. 40 km
Continue your journey on smooth, flat bike paths into Bregenz, Austria. Take advantage of the frequent beach access along the shore for a refreshing dip in Lake Constance. On clear days, a side trip up Bregenz’s local mountain, the Pfänder, is a must—the Pfänderbahn cable car glides effortlessly to the summit, revealing sweeping alpine vistas and panoramic views across the entire lake.
Back on your bike, cross the border into Switzerland and pedal through the tranquil Rhine Delta nature reserve, a haven for local wildlife. Your stage concludes with a scenic ride along the Swiss coast toward your destination in Horn.
Day 6: Horn – Constance
Approx. 35 km
The final leg of your self-guided cycle tour takes you along Switzerland’s northern coast to Romanshorn, home to Lake Constance’s largest harbor and ferry terminal. Enjoy a smooth ride through charming lakeside hamlets as you pedal back toward the historic council city of Constance, completing your iconic multi-country circuit.
Celebrate the conclusion of your journey with a leisurely stroll through Constance’s medieval old town (Niederburg) or enjoy a seaside ice cream at the bustling harborfront promenade.
