Cycle Through the UNESCO Heritage of Bohemia

Discover the Czech Republic on a self-guided cycling tour connecting some of Bohemia’s most remarkable historic towns. Starting and ending in Prague, the route takes you through Telč, Jindřichův Hradec, Třeboň, Český Krumlov and Hluboká nad Vltavou, combining UNESCO-listed heritage, historic centres, forests, fishponds and the landscapes around the Vltava River.

Discover the Czech Republic by Bike

Explore the heart of Bohemia on your own terms. Choose a Self-Guided adventure and enjoy the freedom to discover each destination at your own pace, with detailed route information to guide you along the way, or join a Guided tour and share the journey with an experienced tour leader and support vehicle. Whichever you choose, discover the region’s rich heritage and beautiful countryside through an unforgettable cycling experience.

ROUTE

The journey combines long, flatter sections with gentle hills and mostly paved cycling, with some short off-road sections. From the Renaissance town of Telč, the route continues through the forests and fishponds around Jindřichův Hradec and Třeboň before reaching the medieval streets of Český Krumlov. After a free day to explore the town or enjoy the Vltava River, the route follows the river towards Hluboká nad Vltavou, passes through České Budějovice and continues to the traditional village of Holašovice before returning to Prague. Along the way, castles, historic squares and distinctive Czech landscapes create a balanced cycling holiday between active days and cultural discovery.

Self Guided experience

You cycle independently at your own pace rather than following a tour leader. A detailed App with maps, GPS tracks, points of interest and route information allows you to navigate the stages independently. It is a suitable option for cyclists who value flexibility and prefer to decide their own pace and stops during the cycling days.

Guided experience

You cycle as part of a group accompanied by a tour leader. The guide leads the cycling stages, helping with route navigation and providing information about the places visited along the way. This option is suited to travellers who prefer to follow an organised group itinerary without having to manage the route independently.

Itinerary

Transfer from Prague to Telč, where the tour begins. After arriving, check in at your accommodation and get your bike ready for the first cycling stage. Take some time to explore Telč and its beautiful Renaissance square before setting off the following day.

45 km / 27 miles

Leave Telč behind and cycle through the Czech countryside towards Jindřichův Hradec. The route passes through Strmilov and leads to this historic town, known for its impressive castle and attractive old centre. There is also time to explore Telč before departure or discover Jindřichův Hradec on arrival.

45 km / 27 miles

Cycle through the forests of the Czech border region towards Třeboň, passing the extensive fishponds and man-made lakes that characterise the area. The route includes a stop at Peršlák before continuing to Třeboň, where you can explore the medieval town, visit its chateau and gardens or see the Schwarzenberg Tomb.

53 km / 32 miles

Continue towards Český Krumlov on a partially hilly route that is mostly paved. The stage brings you to one of the Czech Republic’s most remarkable historic towns, with its medieval centre and impressive castle overlooking the Vltava River.

Take a break from cycling and enjoy a full day in Český Krumlov. Explore the medieval town and castle, visit the gardens or choose an optional activity on the Vltava River, including rafting, canoeing or kayaking.

42 km / 25 miles

Follow the Vltava River on an easy ride towards Hluboká nad Vltavou. The route passes through České Budějovice, home of the famous Budweiser beer, where you can stop for lunch in the main square before continuing the final 12 km to Hluboká.

45 km / 27 miles

Set out on a loop from Hluboká nad Vltavou towards Holašovice, with the option to visit Hluboká Chateau before or after the ride. In the late afternoon, return to Prague by minibus and enjoy some free time in the Czech capital.

The tour ends after breakfast in Prague. If you would like to extend your stay, you can continue exploring the city independently.

Additional nights can be organized on request.
