This classic tour takes you round the entire lake showing off all of its highlights along the way as well as the historic towns of Constance, Stein am Rhein, Meersburg and Lindau and the festival town of Bregenz. Take the time along the route to discover the beauty of Lake Constance and explore the area. The first two sections are slightly hilly and otherwise level, on dedicated paved cycle paths close to the lake. The path sometimes follows brief sections that are unpaved; around Friedrichshafen the cycle path is alongside the main road. The banks of the lake are widely accessible to the public. Suitable for families.
You start the tour in Constance, the largest city around the lake.
First, you cycle along the Gnadensee to the former Imperial town of Radolfzell, now a spa resort. Continue through beautiful countryside along the Höri peninsula to the Swiss town of Stein am Rhein with its many frescoed houses. Depending on where you are staying the night, you cross the border again for Gailingen.
Today you will be cycling along the side of lake, through small Swiss fishing villages. Via Constance your route takes you on to Wallhausen where a boat then takes you to the old Imperial town of Überlingen. Visit the gothic church and
go for a walk along the popular lakeside promenade.
From Überlingen you cycle through vineyards toFriedrichshafen. On the way you will pass the Baroque pilgrimage church of Birnau. In Meersburg, take a break to wander around the old town and its castle. InFriedrichshafen we can recommend a visit to the Zeppelin museum. You continue on through extensive orchards to today’s destination of Kressbronn.
On your way today, you soon reach Bregenz, the capital of the Vorarlberg region of Austria and famous for its annualfestival on the largest lake-stage in the world. You finally reach Höchst where you soon cross the border again and then, after pedaling onwards for a few kilometres, reach
Rorschach or Arbon.
The last day of your tour takes you through Romanshorn which is home to Switzerland’s largest harbour on Lake Constance. Now you continue on along the banks of Lake Constance back to Constance. Let your tour come to a pleasant end with a wander through the old town or an ice cream down at the harbour.
After breakfast, you start your individual return journey
home or extend your stay.
