From day 7, the route extends along the High Rhine past Stein am Rhein to Schaffhausen and the impressive Rhine Falls, returning via a scenic ferry ride from Gaienhofen to the island of Reichenau.

With total distances ranging from 290 km to 310 km, daily stages range from 25 km to 65 km across flat to gently rolling terrain, including an included boat trip right up to the Rhine Falls rock.

Itinerary

Take the opportunity to visit the island of Mainau, wander through Constance’s old town, or visit the aquariums in the Sea Life Center and go to the Archaeological Museum.

45 km / 28 miles + boat trip

The first stage of your Lake Constance bike tour leads you along the picturesque Swiss shore of the lower lake and the upper Rhine, culminating in the charming town of Stein am Rhein. Renowned for its stunning medieval town center, Stein am Rhein features vibrantly painted facades that capture the essence of the area’s rich history. Continuing downstream, you’ll reach Gailingen, one of the southernmost towns in Germany. As you cycle along the German side of the Rhine, you’ll head towards the scenic Höri peninsula, celebrated for its vibrant artistic community. Notably, the esteemed painter Otto Dix once resided in Hemmenhofen, where his former home has been transformed into a museum, inviting visitors to explore his life and work.

35 – 50 km / 22 – 31 miles + boat trip

Today begins with a relaxing boat trip on the beautiful High Rhine to Stein am Rhein. Here you can enjoy the landscape from a different perspective. Back on the Lake Constance Cycle Path, you continue across the Höri peninsula to the spa town of Radolfzell. On the way over the Bodanrück, you will be accompanied by countless orchards on the way to your destination for today, Ludwigshafen or Überlingen, with its numerous parks, gardens and green spaces.

35 km / 22 miles by bike

Your tour on Lake Constance Cycle Path today takes you past the Birnau pilgrimage church and the pile-dwelling museum. Meersburg, the medieval town, is beautifully situated on a steep vineyard slope. You should not miss out on a tour of the castle! Then cycle along more vineyards towards Friedrichshafen.

30 / 40 km / 19 – 25 miles

Today’s stage first takes you through Langenargen. Here, the pretty Moorish-style Montfort Castle stands directly on the shores of Lake Constance. Along Lake Constance, you cycle through orchards to the Bavarian town of Lindau, whose old town is located on an island in Lake Constance and whose harbor is guarded by a lion. After a few kilometers, you enter Austria and cycle directly along the lake to the festival city of Bregenz.

35 – 45 km / 22 – 28 miles

Stroll through the excellently preserved upper town of Bregenz. At Hard, you then cross the Rhine, which comes from the Swiss Alps, whose estuary delta is an important nature reserve. On Swiss soil, in Altenrhein, stands the Hundertwasser Hall, the last colorful building by the famous artist. You cycle along the lakeshore to the southernmost tip of Lake Constance, to Rorschach.

30 – 50 km / 19 – 31 miles

The last day of your tour on Lake Constance Cycle Path belongs to the canton of Thurgau, which is known above all for its delicious apples. Cycle through small, picturesque villages along the lakeshore back to Constance. There are plenty of opportunities to cool off in the water along the way. Keep taking a look over your shoulder; the mighty panorama of the Alps seems close enough to touch! And of course, what should not be missing on a visit to Switzerland? The obligatory Swiss chocolate!

Additional nights can be organized on request.
