Discover the traditional and picturesque Alsace, that of the postcards but also the one more unusual and unknown. This circuit will bring you to the encounter of Romanesque, Gothic or Baroque architecture, the artistic treasures of the museums, the Sub-Vosges forests, the peat bogs of Ried and the vineyard sparkling under the Sun. You will drive mainly on bike paths, on paved agricultural roads or on small departmental roads without major road traffic.
Arrival in Strasbourg, hotel check in and free visit of the city. We recommend visiting: the Cathedral, the European institutions passing through the picturesque neighborhoods as “Little France”.
You will leave Strasbourg following the Canal du Rhône to the Rhine till Osthouse, Huttenheim, Sermersheim or Sélestat in the heart of the Alsacian Ried.
After visiting the beautiful baroque Church of Ebersmunster, you will cross the traditional villages of the Ried, a flat landscape, rich in aquatic flora and fauna. Arrival on Colmar, city of art, along the bike path of the Canal de Colmar.
The bike path will take you from Colmar to Neuf-Brisach. You will continue South to reach the village of Ottmarsheim and its beautiful 12th century Church. Through the forest of the Hardt and along the Canal de Huningue you will arrive in Mulhouse.
The itinerary will take us through paths diverted from the banks of the Rhine to Guebwiller, at the foot of the Grand Ballon. You will drive first to Ungersheim to see the Alsace Ecomuseum the ruins of Murbach Abbey, all close to Guebwiller, are the discovery of the day.
At the foot of the Vosges, the wine-growing villages producing the famous Alsace wines are: Eguisheim, Turckheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr.
Along the wine route you will discover the villages of Hunawihr, Ribeauvillé, Bergheim, Andlau and its Romanesque Abbey and finally, Barr, or Obernai.
In Rosheim you will not miss discovering the Church of St. Peter and Paul, one of the jewels of Romanesque architecture in Alsace. In Molsheim you will reach the cycle path of the Canal de la Bruche which will take you to the heart of the European capital. Departure or extension of the stay.
